Restaurant Logic PlateUp! – I dont want to make games that hate other friends [Developer interview]
This project is an interview with the developer of the new indie game that you are interested in. This time, we will deliver a mini-in-tube to the developer PlateUp! , a restaurant loglike released on August 4 for PCs and PCs.
This work is a restaurant logic like that combines elements such as busy kitchens, restaurants, and expanding strategic businesses. Up to four players build a restaurant from scratch and run, select a menu, purchase equipment, install, cook and provide customers. It has already been supported in Japanese.
PlateUp! Is being distributed for 1,840 yen (20%off, 1,472 yen, 20%off until August 12).
— First, please introduce yourself. What is your favorite game?
Alastair JANSE VAN RENSBURG (alastair) This is Alastair Janse Van Rensburg. I love rogue games, co-op games, and highly replay games. My favorite game is Slay The Spire, which I like games that change by understanding and games with a simple but deep system.
――Why did this work developed?
ALASTAIR started development during the lockdown with a new Corona in January 2021. Since the year-end and New Year holidays were rockdown, I was playing a lot of co-op games with my roommate, but after a little play, there were not many games I wanted to keep playing afterwards. It was also difficult to find a co-op game that people in various games can play together. That’s why I wanted to make a quick action, a short play, and a depth that I can continue to play for a long time.
―― Please tell me the characteristics of this work.
ALASTAIR This work focuses on keeping everyone entertain, and anyone can enjoy it. I aimed for a game where the first play or the 100th play was as fun, so I can have a good time with anyone and any skill.
In this work, players have to do everything in their restaurants. Players can also customize the layout as you like. Experienced players can adjust everything in detail, and new players can just enjoy together. And this work was designed so as not as possible. I don’t want to make games that hate other friends!
――What kind of person do you want this work to play?
AlastAir is all! This work is designed as a co-op game, but it can be enjoyed deeply even if you play al1. And experienced players and new players can enjoy it together. Casual players can easily start playing, and hardcore gamers can endless tactics. Everyone has a role, so everyone can participate in the team without feeling that they are disturbing others.
— Is there any work influenced by this work?
Alastair I love the screen split co-op game. In particular, UNRAILED! There is a rogue-like element and has a fun challenge. The challenging co-op game will enhance your unity and make you feel like playing with the team. In a single player game, I like a harder rogue like like Slay The Spire. I tried to reproduce the joy of this work deck building in this work. Every time you play, you can customize different decks, and every time you play this work, you will develop different developments.
――What had an impact on the development of the new Coronavirus?
ALASTAIR Yes, there were many! In the first rockdown, I started developing games as a hobby and playing games with my roommate was very useful in terms of game design. It is a good memory that we were playing a deep game, so we worked on a day-to-day strategy and gathered in front of the TV late at night. It was painful for the past year and a half that I had been dedicated to the development of game development, and most people could not get to know this work until the distribution started. When I had another person play this work in front of me for the first time, I was so nervous.
――Is it okay to distribute or monetize this work?
ALASTAIR Yes, of course!
-Finally, please give a message to Japanese readers.
