The Bild newspaper reported on Monday that Ginter is about to sign in Freiburg. In fact, the signs for this surprising change are condensed. An additional indication in this direction provided the official announcement of Nico Schlotterbeck’s change from the sports club to Dortmund on Monday. The best central defender in this successful Freiburg season leaves a large sporting gap that Ginter will probably fill in the future.

Ginter already wore the Freiburg jersey between 2005 and 2014. The defensive player’s contract in Mönchengladbach expires in summer, both parties had not agreed to extend the contract. The former SC soccer student is therefore available free of charge.

After his time in Freiburg, the 28-year-old was drawn to Borussia Dortmund in 2014. After three years at BVB, Ginter moved to Gladbach in 2017. He made a total of 178 competitive games for the foals and scored eleven goals.
