The former Tom Clancy Xdefiant’s free shooting game is remarkable for an emoji in its title, but it will no longer be related to the name of the deceased espionage author. A glance at the official site of the game simply refers to the exit under the name of XDefiant now, without any mention of Tom Clancy anywhere. (We even tried Ctrl + F to be safer.)

According to PlayStation Lifestyle, the Ubisoft French publisher does not use the Tom Clancy prefix for some time, although you look back on the older key art for the exit, it is clearly present. There was a recurring feeling at the time that the author would “roll in his grave” by associating his name to the project, so it is not surprising to see it stripped.

By the way, there is still no word on an output date: closed beta tests are in progress, the last round to start this week on PC. If you are interested, you can register on the official title website. Ubisoft did not have the best chance for free projects, with taking Hyper Scape earlier this year.
