You want to use your good, old N64 controller for the Nintendo 64 games in the Switch Online Expansion Package? This is possible with a few hardware tricks. The repair Youtuber My Mate Vince reveals how your classic N64 gamepad connects to the Nintendo Switch by adapter. Disadvantage of the story: You can not change the buttons for third-party USB gamepads via the switch menu – at least the N64 controller is recognized by the adapter used as such. For this you need another USB hardware with which you make the desired settings on the PC and stores.

N64 Controller connect to Nintendo Switch

When simplifying the old N64 gamepads by means of USB adapter (in the video the author uses the Mayflash N64 Controller Adapter for Switch & PC MF103), buttons A and B as well as yellow (above) and yellow (below) are reversed. Problems with the key assignment

The arrangement of the N64 keys on the joycons or the Gamepad Pro make a play but almost impossible because they activates the directional keys by holding ZR only. Zr alone serves for firing the weapon, which makes a reasonable control impossible. The problem on the solution by means of both adapters: The Titan One USB adapter costs around 90 dollars. Currently there is also massive criticism of the implementation and performance of the N64 games on the switch, which do not justify the high price. Übrigens : Controller PAK and Rumble Pak do not work.
